Sister Pilar Ocampo, Servant of Mary, Minister to the Sick, 86, peacefully died on August 31, 2015 at the convent where she lived, surrounded by all the Sisters of her religious community. Friends may pay their respects at the Sisters Chapel, 800 N. 18th St. Kansas City, KS on Thursday, September 3rd from 5:30- 7:00 pm. The Rosary will be recited at 6:30 pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated on Friday, 10:00 a.m. Interment at Mount Calvary Cemetery.
Sister Pilar joined the Convent of the Sisters, Servants of Mary on December 10, 1947 in Medellin, Colombia. She took her Temporal Vows on December 11, 1949 in Medellin, and her Perpetual Vows on December 11, 1955 in Bogota, Colombia. Sister Pilar came from Colombia to the United States on April 16, 1952. She served her community in convents in New Orleans, Oxnard, Newbury Park and the last 42 yrs. in Kansas City. Sister Pilar is survived by several beloved nieces and nephews.
