Royce M. Adney, 89, passed away surrounded by his loving family March 28, 2015. Visitation will be held from 6:00-8:00pm Tuesday, March 31st at Skradski Funeral Home, 340 N. 6th Street, Kansas City, KS, where the rosary will be prayed at 7:30pm. Mass of Christian Burial will be 10:30 am Wednesday at Christ the King Church, 3024 N 53rd St, Kansas City, KS 66104. Interment will be at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Royce was born July 14, 1925 in Kirkwood, KS. He proudly served during WWII in the US Navy as a gunner and made multiple trips across the Atlantic on merchant ships carrying vital material for the war effort. Royce worked for Colgate Palmolive as a millwright for 38 years, retiring in 1984 and served as treasurer of the Colgate Credit Union for 13 years. He was a member of Christ the King parish since 1953. Royce was a very devoted husband, father and grandfather and will be greatly missed by those he leaves behind.
Royce was preceded in death by his parents, Perry and Viola Adney; a brother and two sisters. Survivors include his wife of 66 years, Frances L. (Martincich) Adney; children, Sharon Ethridge (Bill), Ron Adney (Kathy), Jane Vega (Rod Carson), David Adney (Jackie); grandchildren, Chris McDonald (Bernie), Jennifer Traffis (Mike), Amy Hays (Jeremy), Doug Adney (Carli), Rachael Drake, Quin Adney, Collin Adney, Cam Adney; great-grandchildren, Abby, Emma, Lucy, Cole and Brendan.
In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the American Heart Association or Christ the King Church in KCK.
