Robert E. "Pooch" Braun, Sr. 85 of Kansas City, Kansas passed away Friday, July 21, 2017 at St. Lukes Hospice House with his family by his side. Visitation will be Tuesday, July 25th from 5:00 to 7:00 PM at Skradski Funeral Home, 340 N 6th Kansas City, KS. Rosary will be prayed at 6:30 PM. Funeral Mass will be Wednesday, July 26th at 10:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church 708 N. 4th, Kansas City, KS. Burial will follow in Mt. Calvary Cemetery, Kansas City, Kansas. Please omit flowers, donations may be made to St. John the Baptist. Pooch was born December 29, 1931 in Kansas City, KS to the late Ambrose and Rose (Handler) Braun. Pooch attended St. Anthonys Catholic School and graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1950. A Korean Veteran, Pooch worked at TWA Overhaul Base for 37 years, coached in the KCK 3&2 Baseball League and served faithfully as a dedicated Sacristan at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church for 25 years (never leaving until every kneeler was up and until he checked the doors twice.) He was also an active member of the St. Johns Seniors. Pooch was a loving husband and a devoted father, grandfather and great-grandfather, a loving son, brother, uncle and loyal friend. Pooch always served his nation, church, family and friends by working humbly from behind the scenes without drawing attention to himself. Besides his parents, Bob was preceded in death by sister Rosemarie Misenhelter, an infant son and infant daughter and granddaughter Audrey Ebbert. He is survived by wife Kathleen (Bartolac) Braun, Robert (Chris) Braun Jr., Jeannie (Gene) Ebbert, Rick (Lynn) Braun, Granddaughters: Natalie (Michael) Brocato with great-grandchildren Juliana and Michael; Dr. Laura (Taylor) Brammer with great-grandchildren Preston and Caroline; Melissa (Christopher) Rothwell, Alexandra and Danielle Braun; brother Leroy Braun and sisters Helen Ferbezar and Mary Ellen Fracul.
