Robert (Bob) Krause Miles Jr., 78, Kansas City, Kansas died in his home Saturday, June 19, 2021 from chronic illnesses. Renee, his wife, was at his bedside.
Bob was born August 6, 1942 in Norfolk, Virginia, the son of Robert K Miles Sr. and Mildred Shepherd Miles, Virginia Beach, Virginia.
Bob was a diligent worker throughout his life in a variety of occupations. Bob served his country with the U.S. Army and earned a Parachutist badge through the U.S. Army Airborne School, 82nd Airborne Division in Fort Bragg, North Carolina. After leaving the service, Bob worked for the Union Pacific Railroad for 30 years. Past retirement from the railroad he worked as a Security Guard for 14 years at Allied Universal.
On August 6, 2012 he was united in marriage to Renee Sadecki Miles at Strawberry South Tavern, Kansas City, Kansas.
Bob enjoyed spending time with his wife and friends, watching sports and playing cards. He was an avid lake and deep-sea fisherman. He cherished and cared for his 2 dogs Sadie and Jozie and a duck, Snuggles (Little Buddy). He took delight in caring for all the neighborhood animals as needed. He enjoyed traveling to see family and spending time with his wife in Branson. He loved gardening and excelled in growing superb, flavorful tomatoes. He took great pride and joy in tending to his plants and sharing the fruits of his labor with his neighbors and everyone who visited his home.
Bob was preceded in death by his parents Robert and Mildred, sisters Barbara Carlisle, Elkhart, Indiana and Diane M. Miles, Norfolk, VA. Bob is survived by his wife Renee of eight years, sisters, Sharon Jenson (Tom), Portsmouth, Virginia and Debbie Hoyt (Tom) Potomac Falls, Virginia, as well as three nieces and two nephews.
Bob will be missed by all who knew him, particularly his long-time neighbors. He will also be remembered for his smile, laughter and sense of humor. In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorial contributions to Reasons Rescue Ranch, 578 Buckeye Rd, Sparta, MO 65753 or a charity of your choice.
Prayer service and visitation will be held at Skradskis Funeral Home, 340 North 6th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66101 on July 13, 2021 from 11:00 a.m. to 1:00 p.m.; followed by a Celebration of Life at Strawberry South Tavern, 48 South 7th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66101.
