Richard J.
Morrissey
Dec 20, 1963 — Aug 25, 2026
Richard “Rick” John Morrissey, 62, of Kansas City, KS, passed away peacefully on August 25, 2026, in his home surrounded by those who meant the most to him.
Born on December 20, 1963, in Kansas City, KS, Rick was the beloved son of Richard “Dick” Morrissey and Janet Pryor Orlowski. He attended Christ the King grade and middle school and went on to Bishop Ward High School. Eventually, he became an apprentice with the Local #2 Sheetmetal Workers Union and quickly got a job with Barnes and Dodge, where he worked for his entire career and retired from in April 2024.
Rick enjoyed spending his time on his boat at Wyandotte County Lake, always trying to catch more fish than his son Daniel. When he wasn’t fishing, he was driving his wife and kids around the lake, listening to Bruce Springsteen or Brooks and Dunn and taking pictures of the changing trees and all of the wildlife. He always enjoyed golf tournaments and hang outs with friends, working in his garden and making all the dad-jokes he could possibly think of. He was most in his element summer days on the water, Family Reunion weekend in St. Charles every July and vacations with his wife, kids and family. Vacation dad always knew how to have a good time. Sunday Fundays in “Rick’s Bar & Garage” were frequent, especially when the Chiefs were playing. He will always be remembered as the hardest working and most caring man any of us have known. Everything he did was for his family.
Rick is survived by the love of his life, Emily, and their four kids: Kyle (Tarryn), Samantha, Richard (Graham) and Daniel (Sydney); sister Susan Morrissey, brother Tim Morrissey, Step-Father Jack Orlowski, and many amazing aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews and his four grandchildren, Aaliyah, Ava, Luna and Beaumont. He was preceded in death by his parents, Dick Morrissey and Janet Orlowski, his brother John Morrissey, and so many other loved ones.
