Richard E.
Estes
Sep 28, 1948 — Oct 5, 2026
Kansas City, Kansas
In loving memory of Rick Estes, who departed this world on October 5, 2026, after a courageous battle with cancer. Born on September 28, 1948, in Kansas City, Missouri, Rick was a beloved husband, father, and grandfather whose life was marked by service, dedication, and deep love for his family and community. Rick was the cherished son of the late Errett and Ernestine Estes and was predeceased by his dear sisters, Barbara and Kathy. He leaves behind his devoted wife of 53 years, Anna, who he married on August 11, 1973. Together, they raised two wonderful children, Kyle and Amy, who carry forward his legacy of kindness and integrity. Rick's family also includes his son-in-law Jason and his treasured granddaughter Hayden, who brought immense joy to his life.
Rick's life was one of service, beginning with his dedicated military service as a Navy Hospital Corpsman from 1966 to 1969. Following his time in the Navy, Rick committed 28 years of his career to serving the community of Kansas City, Kansas, as a paramedic and firefighter. His steadfast commitment to the safety and well-being of others continued as he worked in security at The Woodlands racetracks for 18 years and at the Argosy Casino for 17 years. Rick's family extends their gratitude to all who have supported them during this difficult time. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to the University of Kansas School of Music Student Opportunity Fund, reflecting his love for his granddaughter Hayden and her love of music.
A celebration of Rick's remarkable life will be held at a later date in November, offering an opportunity for family and friends to gather and share memories of a man who touched so many lives with his warmth and dedication. Rick will be remembered for his unwavering kindness, courage, and the profound love he had for his family. May his soul rest in peace, and may his memory be a blessing to all who knew him.
