Richard 'Dick' Morrissey

Richard "Dick" Morrissey, 81, passed away May 10, 2022. Born February 20, 1941 in Kansas City, KS to William and Anna (Rodina) Morrissey. He was a graduate of Christ the King Grade School and Bishop Ward High School. Dick played basketball at Benedictine Heights College and the University of Dallas in Irving, and went on to coach each of his sons and their friends through CYO at Christ the King. Dick retired from Kansas City Power and Light after over 40 years of service. He was an active member of St. Patricks Catholic Church, Kansas City, KS where he was a member of the Green Club. It is within this community that Dick found a true sense of self, lasting friendship, and a truer love for his God.

A humble man, he found his greatest joy celebrating the accomplishments and milestones of his loved ones, and being among them in times of their celebrations. He treasured the friendships forged in the mens golf league at Sunflower, the poker games at Mikes, and as the unofficial ambassador of Dock F at Wyandotte County Lake.

His children marveled at his unwavering generosity and support.

Dick is survived by his children, Susan Morrissey, Rick Morrissey and wife Emily, Tim Morrissey, and John Morrissey; grandchildren, Samantha, Richard, Kyle and Daniel; three great grandchildren; a sister, Connie Heffern, nieces and nephews.
Visitation will be held from 9:00 to 10:00 am Monday, May 16th at St. Patricks Church, 1066 N. 94th St. Kansas City, KS, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 10:00 am. Interment will be at Gate of Heaven Cemetery. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to St. Patricks Church.

A beloved father, brother, uncle, grandfather, great grandfather, and friend, Dick was more loved and will be more missed than he would have ever believed possible for himself.
