Michael Patrick Mcginley

August 28, 1944 — December 6, 2022

Born on August 28, 1944 to Maurice P. McGinley and Mary Turk in KCK. He attended St. John the Baptist and graduated from Wyandotte High School. Losing his mother and baby sister, Mary Margaret, at an young age of 10 he spent a great deal time with his grandmother and grandfather, Mildred and Herman Turk and his aunts and uncle, Midred “Milly” York, Ann Zugar, Frances William and Anjek Turk. All preceding him in death. He passed away in his childhood home with his daughters, Denise McGinley and Mary McGinley and his wife Frances Sue Carlton of 53 years. He served in the United States Army. He will be laid to rest with his fellow soliders in Leavenworth National Cemetery. He retired from BNSF Railroad after more than 40 years. Even though he worked “on the road” he managed to do many things with his children. He was a CYO director for many years. There was even a year when he coached two teams at one time because he couldn’t find a coach. He didn’t want any kid to not be able to play soccer that year. He has coached Basketball, soccer, T-Ball and Softball. He was the Head Master, for the Boy Scouts of America. He was the ”Cookie” organizer for Girl Scouts. He was a leader, at the YMCA, Indian Guides and Indian princess. He even has substituted for Room Mother, making the day. He just brought up some rope for tug of war and other equipment for different activities. He had even come out of retirement and helped his daughter Mary coach his son Andrew in basketball for a few years. He worked hard to provide the best for his children, he may have ruled with a heavy hand, but he thought it was for good intentions.


Once he had retired from the railroad, on Sunday’s you could always find him watching his favorite team, the Chiefs and his other favorite KU basketball.


He is preceded in death by his only son, Bryan J. McGinley. His brother Johnny McGinley at age 18, his sister Mary Margaret at birth, and his elder sister Sandy Blankenship along with his parent and many aunts, uncles and cousin.


He is survived by his wife, Frances Sue Carlton. His two daughters, Denise M. McGinley, Mary McGinley (Charles Henre, Jr) His grandchildren, Brittney Heverling (Hayden), Robert McGinley, Kaitlin Henre, Hayden Robinson, Sidney McGinley, Andrew McGinley, Sadi Bays (Lindsey Bays), Mason McGinley (Shelby Spears), Jackson Henre (Hunter Henre), Taylor Daniel and PJ Daniel, Daniel Henre and Nadia Henre. His grandchildren, Bella McGinley, Katalina McGinley, Lucy McGinley, Carter Heverling, Jordan Heverling and Kai McGinley. He did not have his first grandchild for 27 years so he would want all of them mentioned.
