Mary Hecke

October 6, 1927 — April 22, 2021

Mary McNeil Hecke of Edwardsville, KS peacefully passed away on April 22, 2021 at the age of 93. She was a life-long member of Holy Family Catholic Church, an active bingo player, a frequent visitor at the local casinos and a familiar face at every Aldi within a 15-mile radius. She enjoyed doing puzzles, listening to the Royals and Polka music and watching the Chiefs. She had so many grandkids and great grandkids but it was never hard for her to remember their names. She enjoyed bragging about them whether they were in the paper, did well in a particular sport or had artistic talents. Family was important to her as her house was always full especially on the holidays. There was always a line out the door mostly when she made polish sausage, saurkraut and povitica. She was the family matriarch, the woman who knew best and was certainly not shy about telling you that. She was strong, brave and tough even until the end.
Mary is preceded in death by her husband of 57 years, Raymond Hecke Sr. Survivors include George Hecke, Robert Hecke (Patty), Raymond Hecke Jr., Jean Kiblinger (Richard), Jane Jackson (Gary), Susan Rezin (Steve), Rose Williams, Kathy Roberts (Jeff), John Hecke (LeAnn), 27 Grandchildren and 31 great grandchildren.
Memorials may be made to Holy Family Catholic Church.
