Lois Jean Miller Gunya, 97, from Mission, KS passed away on September 12, 2026 at Kansas City Hospice House surrounded by family. Lois was born in St. Petersburg, FL to Alma and Ridley Miller. She lived in Ocala, FL until 2016 when she moved to Mission, KS to be close to her family after her dementia diagnosis. Lois was preceded in death by her sons, Steve and Tim, her parents Alma and Ridley Miller, her brothers Allen and George as well as nieces and nephews and other family members.

Lois is survived by her son, Kevin and daughter, Lisa; granddaughter, Ellyn, grandsons Charles, Andrew and Daniel as well as numerous nieces, nephews and friends. Lois was an avid reader, loved to listen to music and enjoying her daily routine of ice cream and coffee. She was a Florida State Seminole (her alma mater) fan as wells as a KU Jayhawks fan, Lois’ Celebration of Life will be an ice cream party. It will be on Saturday 10/24/26 from 2-4 pm at Shawnee Mission West High School (8800 W. 85th St., OP, KS).

The family would like to express their gratitude and appreciation for the Caring Heart who provided the home care support and companionship, which allowed my mom to remain at home. We would also like to express our gratitude and support to the staff at KC Hospice House, who made our mothers’ last few weeks of life comfortable and peaceful.
