Linus Ray Orth, 60, passed away July 8, 2015 surrounded by family. The rosary will be prayed at 12:30 pm, Monday, July 13, at Holy Name Catholic Church, Bushton, KS, followed by Mass of Christian Burial at 1:00 pm. Interment will follow at Holy Name Cemetery. A Celebration of Life will be held on Saturday, July 18 from 2-6 pm at Irene B. French Community Center, Hocker Grove Room, 5701 Merriam Drive, Merriam, KS. In lieu of flowers the family suggests memorial contributions to the Roeland Park Community Foundation in Linus memory, or to a charity of the donors choice.
Linus was born February 26, 1955 in Ellinwood, KS to Felix and Barbara (Oberle) Orth. He received his Bachelor of Science degree in Computer Science from the University of Kansas and a Masters degree in Public Administration from the University of Missouri-Kansas City. He most recently owned and operated a rental property business in Bushton, KS.
Linus was preceded in death by his father. Survivors include his wife, Judy (Jarsulic) Orth; son, Linus Paul Orth; daughter, Laura Diane Orth; mother, Barbara Orth; siblings, Lois Orth-Lopes and husband Steve Lopes, Lea Orth and husband Alan Storck, Vincent Orth and wife Dee, Loren Orth and Susan Siemer, Mark Orth and wife Jill, Sheila Orth, Nilus Orth and wife Valerie, Carmen Orth-Alfie and husband Sebastian Alfie, and Fabian Orth and wife Jennifer.
Linus had many interests including lively intellectual discussions, playing games, and the Kansas Jayhawks. He was a lifelong teacher beginning with his siblings, then as a corporate trainer, youth soccer coach and associate faculty member at Barton Community College. A proud resident of Roeland Park, Linus served on the City Council for 8 years and in other volunteer positions.
Linus loved spending time with friends and family and his beloved cat, Spike.
