Kathleen E. Daniels

d. January 17, 2019

It is with profound sadness that we announce the death of our loving mother, grandmother, sister, and friend, Kathleen E. Daniels on January 17, 2019. Our mom is the strongest woman we have ever met. Her greatest passion in life was loving her family, especially her daughters, Christine Lau, Barbara Childress, and Laura Daniels. Well, at least it was her daughters until her grandchildren, John K. Childress, Bryce Childress, Reece Childress, Evie Lau, and Owen Lau arrived at which point her greatest passion shifted to loving and supporting them. Kathleen attended every game, concert, dance recital, and event humanly possible for each of us, and you knew she was there because her cheers reverberated louder than any others. Many family members will also miss her including, but not limited to, her sisters, Marie Annette OConnor and Ceil Bishop, her brother-in-law, Lee OConnor, her son-in-law, Al Lau, and lots of cousins, nieces, and nephews. We are certain that she has been reunited in Heaven with her beloved father and mother Anthony and Marie Kosorog. Kathy also believed very strongly that her older brothers, Anthony Kenneth Kosorog and John Ward Kosorog, were her angels and were often around watching out for her so it would be no surprise if they, along with Aunt Bernie Kosorog, were the first to greet her. We are sure that she was also excited to meet her brother Raymond Kosorog who passed before she was born. Besides being a mother who loved her children and grandchildren unconditionally, Kathy was an extremely hard-worker. She had many degrees which she used to serve others in various capacities. In the field of medicine, she worked as a chemist doing cancer research at the University of Kansas Medical Center and was also a nurse for a time. Kathy then went on to serve the community as the Director of the Breath Alcohol Program for the State of Kansas. She was passionate about saving lives and did a lot to help get drunk drivers off the road. Finally, she continued to fight the consumption of illegal drugs by working as a certifying scientist in the Toxicology Department at Clinical Reference Laboratories were she leaves many friends. Kathleens other joys and hobbies also revolved around family. She an amazing cook and loved to make huge meals for holidays and special events. A week at the shore with family, was her favorite vacation, but even there, Kathy spent a good amount of time shopping and planning for the next meal. She often spoke of the farm, and we imagine her there now having a cup of coffee with Grandpa and the others. Please join us to celebrate the most amazing and generous mother that ever lived. Visitation will be Wed., January 23rd at The Church of the Ascension, 9510 W 127th Street in Overland Park, Kansas at 9:00 am with a funeral Mass to follow at 10 am.
