Kathy was born January 1, 1936, in Vrbovsko, Croatia, to Rudolf and Lovrenca Muhvic. From a young age, Kathy enjoyed singing and performing on stage and going to local dances. The small village life with her parents and brothers, contributed to her strong work ethic, eternal passion for humor, and love for her family and all those around her. As a young woman, she worked in a local furniture factory where she also acted as a first aid nurse, in which she took a great deal of pride.
Kathy met the love of her life, Boris Stancic, and they later married on February 11, 1961. They began to build their life together, having two sons, Boris Jr. and Joseph. Early in their marriage, they made a life-changing decision to move to America for better opportunities for their family.
Once settling in Strawberry Hill of Kansas City, Kansas in 1969, both Boris and Kathy found immediate employment in pursuit of the American dream. Kathy never missed a day of work in her life and after every day, she made sure there was a warm meal on the table at home.
Over the years, Boris and Kathy hosted a great deal of dinners and parties, where everyone was welcome, the vino and pivo flowed, and Kathy’s cabbage rolls, potato salad, povitica and strudel stole the show. With tambourine in hand, Kathy sang and danced, while the rest of the family played various traditional instruments.
In her retirement years, Kathy enjoyed fishing with Boro, visiting with grandchildren, traveling to Croatia, and tending to her garden. She loved her little dog Ozzy, who was constantly by her side, providing joy and therapy.
Kathy will be remembered for her vibrant spirit, great sense of humor and unconditional love for her family and friends.
