Karl William “Mac” McCarty of Lenexa, KS passed away on April 16th at Advent Health Shawnee Mission with his beloved wife, Carol, by his side. Karl was born on May 19, 1932 and lived in Kansas City Kansas until moving to Lenexa in 1995. He spent his professional career in sales starting out of school with DeCoursey Dairy. In March of 1965 he went to work for Swift Adhesive Company in the chemical sales division. He retired in 1994 after 29 years of service.

Karl married the love of his life Carol Lee Dragosh on April 14, 1956 and they celebrated their 67th wedding anniversary two days before his passing. He is survived by Carol and their two sons, Gary L. McCarty (Mary Beth) of Kansas City, KS, and Brian J. McCarty (Melissa) of Lee’s Summit, MO., his dear brother-in-law, Joe Dragosh of Mission, KS, seven grandchildren, and eight great grandchildren. 

Karl served for three years in the US Coast Guard, and he loved his country and our flag. He was a devoted member of Holy Family Catholic Church and the Holy Name Society. Karl loved a good time. He and Carol loved music and dancing, and they spent many wonderful times with friends, dancing to the music of their sons and other local bands. Karl enjoyed sports. He attended Wyandotte High School where he was a star football player. He also enjoyed playing handball with his buddies in his younger days. He loved to play golf and did so frequently in his retirement.

Mass of Christian burial will be at 11:00 am on Friday, April 21st at Holy Family Catholic Church, 274 Orchard St, Kansas City, KS. The rosary will be prayed at 9:00 am and visitation will follow until 11:00. Interment with military honors will follow at Mount Calvary Mausoleum at 38th and State Ave, Kansas City, KS. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Holy Family Catholic Church in Karl’s memory.
