Obituary
Jesse S. Enriquez, 88 years old of Overland Park, KS, known to his friends and family as Shorty passed away at his home on Wednesday, February 16, 2022. Jesse was born on July 22, 1933, the son of Jesus R. and Concepcion Enriquez of Kansas City, MO (Westside). As a young man, Jesse enlisted into the United States Army, where he served proudly as a Paratrooper in the 82nd Airborne Division. His time as a Paratrooper was one of the most profound moments for him and gave him lifelong friends and memories. He and his wife Ventura Benni Enriquez, raised 3 children in the community of Armourdale, in KC, KS. They were lovingly married for 68 years.
Jesse worked for Griffin Wheel, in Kansas City, KS before retiring after 25 years of employment. He was avid fisherman, camper, dog lover and musician. From playing his accordion, to strumming his guitar for the Las Maanitas song, his music will forever be remembered and missed at the family gatherings. He was the biggest KC Royals fan, no matter how good or bad the season went. He would take his cushion and peanuts to every game he could make it to or even just watching it at home. From caring for his yard or tinkering with his RV, Jesse was always fixing or planting or inventing small gadgets to make his life easier. For years Jesse served as a member of the Color Guard with the American Legion as a volunteer. This was his way of giving back and supporting his brothers and sisters in arms. He would proudly wear his uniform and stand up with friends to honor his country and those who had served.Jesse will be remembered by many and never forgotten. His smile and joyous laughter will echo through time.
Jesse is survived by his wife Ventura Benni Enriquez of Overland Park, KS; 3 children Cecilia A. Morales (Richard) of Kansas City, KS, Jesse M.
