Jennifer 'Jen' Marie Serrano

Jennifer Marie Serrano, 40, passed to Our Lord on March 22, with her loving family at her side.

Jennifer was born to Max and Mary Anaya in Kansas City, Kansas, and lived in this area all of her life. She attended St. John-Holy Family and All Saints grade schools and graduated from Piper High School. She worked as a dental assistant all of her adult life, most recently at North Kansas City Dental. She was a faithful Catholic and member of St. Josephs Parish in Shawnee.
Jennifers love for her children and husband was foremost in her life and she was so proud of them all and wanted the best for them, especially a Catholic education. She enjoyed sports, particularly playing and coaching volleyball. Her children will cherish the memory of her cheering on and applauding them at their games, drama, band and other school performances. She loved spending time outdoors, hiking in the woods and picnics with her family. Jennifer had an infectious laugh and loved being with all of her family, immediate and extended, especially at the holidays.

To celebrate her life and mourn her death, Jennifer leaves her husband, Thomas Serrano, Jr., daughter Maria (Mia), sons Thomas, Nicholas and Pauly. She also leaves her parents Max and Mary Anaya, grandmother Natie Anaya, brother Dominic and Jessica Anaya, in-laws Tom and Kathy Serrano, sister-in-law Teresa and John Porterfield, brother-in-law, Joseph Serrano, four nieces and two nephews, godparents Jesse and Cynthia Lopez and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins and countless friends.

A celebration of Jennifers life will be held at Saint Joseph Catholic Church, 11311 Johnson Drive, Shawnee, KS, on Tuesday March 29, 2022. The Rosary will be prayed at 9:30 a.m. followed by a Visitation until a Mass of Christian Burial to begin at noon. Interment will be at The Gate of Heaven Cemetery, Parallel Parkway and N 126th Street, Kansas City, KS, with dinner to follow at Saint Joseph Catholic Church. The Mass will be live streamed at StJoeShawnee.org
