Janice Baric

March 3, 1941 — November 6, 2023

Janice Lee Baric, 82, of Kansas City, KS., beloved wife, mother and grandmother, passed away on Monday, November 6, 2023. Janice was the first of four children born in Kansas City, Missouri on March 3, 1941, to Elsie and Arthur Neet.

The family eventually settled in Overland Park, where she attended Queen of the Holy Rosary. She was a childhood polio survivor. She went on to graduate from Shawnee Mission High School. Janice was an accomplished violinist, sitting in first chair her senior year in her high school orchestra as well as earning a place with a junior philharmonic orchestra. She also had a beautiful singing voice.

After meeting Joseph Baric, the two married on October 30, 1965, and moved to Kansas City, Kansas where she faithfully attended St. John the Baptist Croatian Catholic Church. They would go on to have four children.

She was a devoted wife and mother, sharing her love of music, dance and sports with her children. Janice was a tireless parent, making sure that the four of them participated in numerous activities, including music lessons, dance and multiple sports. She rarely missed an important event. Once all four were in school, Janice rejoined the workforce, eventually retiring from the Board of Public Utilities in 2003. She still made time to be there for her children’s activities. Once her grandchildren were born, she became their biggest fan, attending their events as well.

Janice was preceded in death by her parents, Arthur Sr. and Elsie, and her brother John Joseph (Joe). She is survived by her husband of 58 years, Joe Sr. as well as by her children Joe Jr. and his wife Cassie, Jim and wife Michele, Lisa Moyer and husband Ben and Cathy Siler with husband Jon, and 8 grandchildren as well as her brother Art Jr. with his wife Pat and her sister Mary Sue (Suzy).

Services for Janice will be held on Thursday, November 16, 2023, at St. John the Baptist Croatian Catholic Church, 708 N. 4^th St, Kansas City, KS, 66101. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am, Rosary at 10:00 am, Funeral Mass at 10:30 am, followed by Rite of Christian Burial at Gate of Heaven Catholic Cemetery, 126^th and Parallel Parkway, Kansas City, Kansas, 66109. A luncheon will then follow at St. John the Baptist church basement.
