James "Jim" Salamon Sr.

James "Jim" Salamon, age 73, of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away peacefully on June 19, 2025, surrounded by his loving family, after a long and courageous battle with cancer.

A visitation will be held on Wednesday, June 25, from 6:00–8:00 p.m. at Skradksi Funeral Home. A Mass will take place on Thursday, June 26, at 10:00 a.m. at St. Patrick’s Catholic Church, located at 94th and State Avenue. Interment will follow immediately at Mount Calvary Cemetery, 38th and State Avenue.

Jim was born on November 17, 1951, in Wyandotte, Michigan, to Ed and Betty Salamon. Following high school, he proudly served in the United States Air Force for 14 years. During his service, he met the love of his life, Mary Lou, and they were married in January 1971. Together, they made their home in the Kansas City area and raised a family grounded in love and strong values.

After his military service, Jim worked as a skilled and dedicated Union Sprinkler Fitter with Local 314, where he built a successful career until his retirement.

Jim is preceded in death by his parents, Ed and Betty. He is survived by his beloved wife of 54 years, Mary Lou, and their two children: Jennifer Harbor and Jimmy (Heather) Salamon. He was a proud grandfather to Austyn Cash, Breeanna Cash (Avery), Kelsey Hawes (Aaron), Cameron Cash, Kaitlyn Salamon, Brayden Harbor, and Brody Harbor. He was also a cherished great-grandfather to Everlee Parker, with another great-grandchild, Blakely, expected soon. Sister, Helen Brother, Ed (Bernie), Brother, Bob and Sister, Nancy (Dave) and Numerous family members. 

Jim lived a full and meaningful life marked by love, service, and devotion. He will be remembered for his steady presence, kind heart, and deep commitment to his family. He enjoyed fishing, hunting, traveling, and, most of all, spending time with those he loved. His strength, sense of humor, and enduring spirit touched everyone who knew him. He will be deeply missed and forever remembered.
