Irene L. Super

Irene L. (Balint) Super was born on July 27, 1922 to Joseph and Anna (Lesko) Balint and was a member of Sts. Cyril and Methodius Catholic church until it closed and then joined St. Peter’s Cathedral in Kansas City, Kansas. She graduated from Bishop Ward High School in 1941 and began working for Park Davis Pharmaceutical Company. In 1947 she married William J. Super and soon became the mother of three boys James, Daniel, and William. A devoted wife and mother, she was a charter member of the Czech Slovak Club, volunteered at the food kitchen, sang in the choir, and was an active member of the St. Cyril’s social club and Altar Society. Irene retired from Old America Insurance Company in 1987.

Irene was friend and confidant to countless friends and neighbors of diverse ethnicities while living in the same house on ninth street for seventy-two years. She enjoyed gardening and was especially gifted with flowers. Her family has fond memories of Sunday dinners together and the annual Super picnic with extended family.

She was preceded in death by her husband, William J. Super on April 19, 1997, as well as her brothers and sisters: Mary (Sister Norberta), Joe, Anna, Paul, Mike, Agnes (Balint) Savage, Genevieve and Dorothy Balint.

She is survived by her sons and their wives: Jim/Janet, Dan/Janice and Bill/Connie; seven grandchildren, Robert/Phaedra Super, Carrie Super, Drs. Jill (Super)/Brad Jenkins, Jay/Anna Super, Julia (Super)/Brent Heier, Katie Super, Sam Super, and; eleven great-grandchildren, Gary and Jackson Super, Emma, Madelyn, and Will Jenkins, Gavin, Brody, and Gwyneth Super, Olive, Hudson, and Molly Heier. She was especially fond of her many nieces and nephews.

A Visitation for Irene will be held on December 28th, 2023, from 6:00pm - 8:00pm, at Skradski Funeral Home, 340 N. 6th Street, Kansas City, Kansas 66101. A Mass of Christian Burial will take place on December 29th, 2023, from 10:00am - 11:00am, at The Cathedral of St. Peter the Apostle, 409 N 15th St, Kansas City, KS 66102, with a burial to follow services, at Mt. Calvary Catholic Cemetery, 1150 N 38th St, Kansas City, KS 66102. Following services at the cemetery, the family will have a luncheon back at the church.
