Henry Placido Franco

Henry P. Franco, 74 of Kansas City, Kansas passed away on Thursday, May 25, 2017 at Shawnee Mission Medical Center. Visitation will take place on Tuesday, May 30, 2017 from 5:00-7:00 p.m. At Skardski Funeral Home, 340 N. 6th, Kansas City, Kansas.Born on March 30, 1943, Henry demonstrated his strong commitment to family early on while assuming the role of caregiver to numerous family members while providing care and direction. Throughout the years, he and his wife Inez were devoted contributors to the community, sponsoring softball and baseball teams so that the children of their neighborhood would always have somewhere to go, keeping them off the streets. Henry also had a love for the restoration of old cars, always having a "project car" in the garage to tinker with.Henry retired from Colgate Palmolive after forty-three years of service as a dedicated employee, union steward, and a stranger to no one and friend to all. He took great pride in being the breadwinner to his family, which was apparent during his retirement dinner Colgate Palmolive held in his honor. During the dinner, they produced Henry's original job application, sharing with everyone his response to the question on what application as to the reason for applying for the a job with Colgate Palmolive; his response being, "to be able to provide for my family." Never forgetting his roots, Henry never hesitated to give everyone a chance, no matter what the circumstance.Preceding Henry in death were his wife, Inez Marie Franco and parents, Placido and Elizabeth (Dumbler) Franco. Surviving family members include three children and their spouses: Lisa (Franco) and Jeff Brown, Tony and Shannon Franco and Elena Franco; four grandchildren: Austin, Kailey, Antonio, Caroline and Rhiannon; three great-grandchildren: Caden, Issac and Tristan; siblings: John Franco, Gloria Cisneros and Victoria Franco; and grand-dogs: Zobey and Fluffy.
