Helen Zagar

Helen Zagar, 89, passed away on November 6th, 2023 at The Piper Assisted Living and Memory Care in Kansas City, Kansas.

Helen was born in Kansas City, Kansas on January 20th, 1934 to Mathew and Bertha (Krulic) Zagar. She graduated from Wyandotte High School in 1952. Shortly after graduation, she was employed by The Wyandotte County District Court System. She would work there for 43 years before retiring. She had been a leader among court clerks across the state and even wrote the original handbook, that handbook is still used today by the court clerks statewide. Helen also served on a number of councils and committees during her career.

She was a member of the St. John's Kolo Club in her younger years, a member of the Don Lipovac Booster Club, the Holy Family Church Choir, and the Altar Society.

In her younger days, you could always find Helen sunbathing in her back yard or Wyandot Swim Club!

She was preceded in death by her parents Mathew and Bertha Zagar, siblings, Mary Novosel, Emily Pinder, Frances Labesky, Dorothy Zagar, Frank Zagar, and Matthew Zagar.

She is survived by her brother Joseph Zagar, and numerous nieces and nephews.

A Visitation for Helen will be held on Tuesday, November 14th, from 10:00am - 11:00am at Holy Family Church, 274 Orchard St, Kansas City, KS 66101, followed by a Mass of Christian Burial from 11:00am - 12:00pm. After the funeral services, Helen will be taken to Mt. Calvary for her final resting place. A luncheon will follow the burial at Holy Family Club, 513 Ohio Ave, Kansas City, KS 66101.
