George "Junie" Dolinar, 91 of Kansas City, Kansas, passed away peacefully November 7, 2020. Mass of Christian Burial will be November 17, at 10:00 a.m. at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 708 N. 4th St, Kansas City, Kansas. Inurnment will be at 12:30 at Leavenworth National Cemetery.
George was born December 19, 1928 to George and Helen (Delich) Dolinar in Kansas City, Kansas. He served in the Army, Post WWII in Baumholder Germany, and when on leave, he traveled the countryside of Europe with his fellow soldiers. George married JoAnn (Goodack) August 8, 1959 and raised Marti their only son in Kansas City, Kansas. An avid reader, George had his own library of books organized by author ready to loan out to friends and family. His only request was for everyone who read one of his books to put their initials in the book cover and pass it on so he could see how far the book would travel throughout the neighborhood.
George baked the best masnica and apple strudel (some may have argued about that but never passed up a slice!). George made his Christmas cookie platters with love and delivered the goodies to all his relatives and close friends during the holiday season. George didnt forget a birthday which included a special poem in each card. He had a joke for everyone and had many stories about growing up in the Strawberry Hill area. George always made everyone he met feel special with his infectious smile and generosity.
George was a member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church his entire life and belonged to various church organizations. He especially loved his time spent with the Boy Scouts as a troop leader mentoring young scouts during their formative years.
Surviving George are his sisters; Josephine Uniak and Rose Marie Gerkovich, his trusted niece Tricia Schwind, numerous nieces, nephews, and many friends he made feel like family. Preceding him are his parents, brothers Joe, Henry, and Ed, wife JoAnn, and son Marti.
The family would like to thank all the nurses and staff at Providence Place for their kindness to George along with their exceptional care over the last six months.
Donations may be made to Sister Servants of Mary, Sisters of Christ the King (Lemont, Il)-St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, and the Strawberry Hill Museum.
