Frank Zager, 86 of Kansas City, Kansas passed away Saturday, October 27, 2018 at Villa St. Francis. Visitation will be 9-10 AM Wednesday, October 31st with Funeral Mass at 10:00 AM at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 708 N. 4th, KCK. Burial to follow at Mt. Calvary. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Church.
Frank was born April 11, 1932 to Matt and Bertha (Krulic) Zagar on Strawberry Hill in KCK. He was a member of St. John the Baptist Church.
Surviving Frank are his children Tim, Vicky, Kathy, Lori, Mick, and Daniel, a sister Helen Zagar, brother Joe Zagar and two stepchildren. Preceding him were his parents and 2nd wife Donna, 2 Brothers and 4 Sisters.
Frank was a lifelong resident of KCK. He graduated from Wyandotte High School.
He served in the US Army where he was stationed at Camp Gordan, Georgia. His civilian occupation was an Optician apprentice, where he learned the trade that eventually led to a 20 year career as an eyeglass technician. Frank then became certified as an Optician and opened his own eyeglass dispensary. The local Kansas City business attracted thousands of loyal customers for over 30 years.
His love for music was evident as a 50+ year member of the Don Lipovac Orchestra as their bass player. Countless people enjoyed their music at weddings, festivals, public dances, and private parties.
He was active with his church and many organizations including a special relationship with the Optimists of KCK during the 70s. He had the ability to brighten any room he walked into with his smile, storytelling, and his generous nature. He always made you feel special. His family loved him dearly.
