Frances Sue McGinley, 78 of Kansas City, Kansas passed away peacefully on October 21st, 2025 surrounded by her family.
Sue was born on February 18th, 1947 in Atchison, Kansas to Betty L. Wilson and Gerald McCourt. Sue spent her life surrounded by her family, she worked for KU medical center, and Dillard’s throughout her years. She found joy and purpose in her hands-on crafts – wood carving, floral arrangements, arranging flowers with the eye of someone who saw beauty in everyday things. Her crafts were not just decorations but an expression of love – for her home and people she cared about. Sue enjoyed shopping for unique finds, she was known for her love of vintage treasures and unique style. Her calming spirit drew people in like a cup of tea on a rainy day.
Those who know Sue know her laughter, her steady kindness, dependability, and how she could take something worn down to look like new. She understood the art of making – not just making things, but making moments, making memories, and making love tangible. She had a gift for seeing the beauty in the forgotten things and a heart that always made room for family. Sue had a close bond with her aunt Eve Knight, the type of bond these two have cannot be broken. May her memory continue to bloom, and we all continue to see her in every wreath, and vintage item you see.
Frances was proceeded in by her husband of 50+ year Michael P. McGinley and son Bryan J. McGinley. She is survived by her daughters Denise McGinley and Mary McGinley (Chuck Henre), Grandchildren; Brittney McGinley Heverling (Hayden), Robbie McGinley, Kaitlin Henre, Sidney McGinley, Hayden Robinson, Andrew McGinley, Sadi Bays (Lindsey), Mason McGinley (Shelby), Jackson Henre (Hunter), Daniel Henre, Nadia Henre.
