Emilie M. (Novak) Verbeck, 90 of Chester, AR formerly of Kansas City, KS passed away Friday, April 13, 2018 at Mercy Hospital in Fort Smith, AR. The funeral mass will be at 10:00 am Thursday, April 19th at Holy Family Catholic Church, 274 Orchard, Kansas City, KS. Visitation will begin at 9:00 am. The rosary will be prayed at 9:30 am. Entombment will follow at Mt. Calvary Cemetery Mausoleum.
Emilie was born July 3, 1927 to Francis J. and Anna (Spehar) Novak. She was a 1945 graduate of Wyandotte High School and a member of Tau Phi Gamma sorority. She was an Altar Society member at Blessed Sacrament, Holy Family and a member of Friends of the Arts. Emilie was preceded in death by her husband, William; parents; brothers, John, Frank, George, William, Albert and Edward; sisters, Mary and Velma Ann. She is survived by her sister, Eleanor; three children, Suzanne Renko of Chester, AR, Bob Verbeck (Debbie) of Phoenix, AZ, Janet Matson (Matthew) of Kansas City, KS; eight grandchildren, David Renko, Sarah Renko, Kelly Verbeck, Rob Verbeck, Mary Verbeck, Tricia Verbeck, Hogan Matson, Jonathan Matson; four great grandchildren, William Verbeck, Mia Renko, Riley Renko and Landis Roccaforte. In lieu of flowers the family suggests contributions to Holy Family Church or Mercy Health Foundation Fort Smith, Attn: Hospice, P.O. Box 17000, Fort Smith, AR 73917-7000.
