Carol was born September 16, 1936 to John and Lucille (Halstead) White in Kansas City, MO. Carol lost her father at the age of 2 and mother at the age of 12. Her grandparents, Jasper and Grace Halstead raised her and her brother John as their own. Carol went to Westport High School and went into the work world. She met her husband Otto Kaifes at Quivira Lake by chance and immediately fell in love. Married for 65 years, Carol and Otto had a love that was unbreakable, beautiful and rare! Carols great joy were her six children, 15 grandchildren and 5 great grandchildren.

Carol was the consummate home maker, had her children close together, kept a spotless house, made dinner (on a dime budget), got the kids to every practice, made sure they had their clothes perfect (NO WRINKLES) and perfect white socks. Carol taught her children to say please and thank you, use yes and no, and look people in the eye when speaking. Carol did everything a mom in the 60s and 70s would do - PTO, car pools, sewing outfits, penny pinching, and dinner on the table every night.

Sports were a constant presence in Carols life. Carol was always a presence at football, basketball and baseball games for her children and grandchildren. Her knowledge of the game was unmatched! Carol was an avid golfer.

Carols personality filled a room. Carol had the best handwriting. She was asked by her many friends to write invitations for weddings and baby showers. Her bow making skills were legendary. She was a wonderful artist without flaunting her gifts. She was an excellent cook.

Carol gave her children many gifts. She taught her kids to always send Thank-You notes, always stick up for the underdog and take care of the of the not-so-liked kid in the class or group. She always backed her husband when the family was involved.
Surviving Carol is her husband, Otto, sons; Kurt (Leigh Anne), grandchildren Meghan (Jordan) Kaifes Bills, Anne (Maxwell) Kaifes Franklin, Caroline Kaifes and Great-Grandchildren Eleanor, Evelyn, Henry, Theodore Bills and Maxwell Franklin, Jr., Gregg, Grandchildren; Elizabeth and Sam, Eric, grandchildren; Connor, Catherine, Cooper, Claire and Carter, Otto (Lori) grandchildren; Otto, Spencer, Logan and Kent Kaifes, daughter; Carrie (Tom) Lally, grandchildren; Lucy and Tommy Lally, a brother John (Sue) White. Tons of Nieces and Nephews and many friends.
