Angeline Ann Jansen

April 30, 1924 — April 21, 2022

Angeline A. Jansen (Angie), 97 formerly of Kansas City, KS joined her Savior, and loving husband Jim, on April 21, 2022. She passed away peacefully with family beside her.Angie is survived by her daughter, Marilyn Jansen, Shawnee, KS, first cousin, Carol Osborne ; niece Melissa Wiber (John), Kansas City, KS; niece Gerri Anzek, Kansas City, KS; great niece Millianna Anzek, Kansas City, KS; niece Donna Sweda, Kansas City, MO; nephew Joe Sebel (Melanie) Kansas City, MO great nephew Matthew Sebel (Heather), their twin sons Emmett and Owen and daughter Kristin.

Angie is predeceased by her husband Jim; sister Josephine Anzek (Frank); brothers Frankie Plavac (Ramona) and Ed Plavac (Fran).

After Jim passed away in 2007, Angie and Marilyn got closer. Many days she was there for her mom, regardless of need; Angie was never imposing. Her Croatian heritage was dominate throughout her life in the Strawberry Hill community. A member of St. John the Baptist Catholic Church and St. Bernadette Ladies circle during the 60s. She met the love of her life at 5th street baseball park, while attending Wyandotte High School, and later discovered that Jim had his eye on her, but it was several months before he asked her out on a "real date". They married in 1943 while Jim was in the Navy. After the war, they opened a dry cleaning business. Jim became experienced with cleaning the clothes and Angie was the counter girl, presser and alterations lady; a successful team working long hours together . Being a seamstress and perfectionist, she always found a need to alter clothing, shorten sleeves, redo cuffs, etc. She could mend anything to perfection.Excellent seamstress skills, landed her a position in K. C.s garment industry. She worked with her aunt Charlotte for a few years and retired in 1985 from Rice Coat and Suit Co. She enjoyed when a niece or nephew stayed overnight, and always loved having family in the home. Rather then chatting on the phone, she preferred visits in person for whatever time you could stay. She and Jim moved to Shawnee in 1985. After living in an apartment for 12 years, she could hardly wait to plant flowers and do yard work again. After retirement, she took up fishing with Jim and her uncle Bill. They fished 3-4 times a month at the strip pitts in Prescott, KS. In the early years she only fished because Jim wanted to, but eventually she enjoyed it and often out-fished him. Angie was a caring, smart, and strong lady who enjoyed her family. She was a true confident and could keep secrets. The running joke in the family was, Jim telling everyone there was never any pie in the house. Truth known by all, Angie baked a fresh pie nearly every weekend for years. Our sincere appreciation to Brookdale Hospice for providing loving care, support and treating Angie with dignity during their care

Miss Angie, there is a void in our family. May eternal light shine upon you. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Strawberry Hill Museum, 720 North 4th Kansas City, KS 66101 or St. Joseph Church Catholic Church, Shawnee, KS
