Albert G. Zukel, 97, passed away peacefully on Thursday, March 26, 2015 at Presbyterian Manor. Visitation will be 9:00 to 10:30 AM Wednesday, April 1, at Skradski Funeral Home, 340 N. 6th St., Kansas City, KS with a Prayer Service beginning at 10:30. Interment to follow service at Mt. Calvary Cemetery.
Albert was born September 3, 1917 in Kansas City, KS to Gabriel and Magdalene Zukel. He was employed for over 34 years at Phillips Petroleum Refinery, retiring in 1980. Albert was a WWII Army Veteran. He belonged to the Phillips Mens Club and the Don Lipovac Booster Club. Among his hobbies were gardening and woodworking.
He is survived by his wife of 74 years, Mary Lou (Bosiljevac) Zukel and son and daughter-in-law: Robert and Darlene Zukel; two grandchildren: Peter (Carmen) Zukel and Lynne (Robert) Cobin, and two grandchildren: Alexandria and Tyler Cobin; one brother, Lawrence Zukel and many nieces and nephews. Preceding him in death were two brothers: Benjamin and Alexander; and two sisters: Anna Haynes and Genevieve Michaels.
The family suggests memorial contributions be made to St. Judes Childrens Hospital or Compassionate Care Hospice. A special thank you to the Compassionate Care Group and especially Eileen and Jamie.
