Agnes Elizabeth Pike

January 4, 1929 — June 14, 2016

Agnes E. Horvat Pike, 87, entered into eternal rest on the afternoon of June 14, 2016 at her home at Greenwood Terrace Senior Living Community. Visitation will be held at Skradski Funeral Home, 340 N 6th St, Kansas City, KS, on Monday, June 21, from 5-7 pm, with the service on Tuesday, June 21, at 9:30am at St. John the Baptist Catholic Church, 708 N 4th St., KCK. lnterment will take place at Chapel Hill Memorial Gardens following the service. Agnes was born January 4, 1929 in Kansas City Kansas to Anton and Julia (Kovacic) Horvat. She attended St. John the Baptist School and graduated from Bishop Ward High School. ln June of 1950, she married the love of her life, Keith A. Pike. After raising four children, she worked for the Building lnspection Department of the Unified Government, retiring in 1992 after 17 years of service. She served in the Girl Scouts of America for 8 years as troup leader, Day Camp Coordinator and Regional Trainer. After retiring, she served faithfully for several years as a volunteer for an adult respite care center in Kansas City, Kansas. Agnes possessed an infectious sense of humor and fun. She was the quintessential hostess, always cooking up a storm and welcoming loved ones into her home for every occasion. Agnes did not know a stranger and always expressed concern for the welfare of others. She enjoyed crochet, Jeopardy, MASH, daisies, NCIS, and most importantly, her family. Agnes was a woman of simple wants and needs. ln her later years, she was content as long as she had her TV remote and a sufficient supply of tissues, Chapstick, and of course, Honey Buns.
Agnes embodied the sentiment of 1 Corinthians 13:4-8; Love is patient and kind; love does not envy or boast; it is not arrogant or rude. lt does not insist on its own way; it is not irritable or resentful; it does not rejolce at wrongdoing, but rejoices with the truth. Love bears all things, believes all things, hopes all things, endures all things. Love never ends."(ESV) She loved unconditionally, was straight-forward, forgiving and non-judgemental.
Agnes leaves behind to cherish her memory: son Tony Pike, (Brenda), daughters Vicky DeLaughder, (Harold), Cindy Kampmeier, (Mike), and Teresa Murphy, (Ed), two sisters, Vicky Horvat and Rose Casey, 11 Grandchildren and 18 Greatgrandchildren. She was preceeded in death by her parents Anton and Julia Horvat, beloved husband Keith, brother Joe and sister Anne.
The family would like to express grateful thanks to the staff and dear friends at Greenwood Terrace, the incredible Caring Group caregivers for the excellent care and love they showed Mom, Crossroads Hospice and Aquinas Private Duty.
May eternal rest grant unto her, oh Lord, and let perpetual light shine upon her. May her soul and the souls of all the faithful departed, through the mercy of God, rest in peace. Amen
